Spend a week working independently yet among other writers, exchanging ideas and insights, and receiving and offering critical feedback.

Scriblum runs several creative share retreats throughout the year, suitable to all genres of creative work.

You can work independently and in solitude in your own room or anywhere suitable, but being among other writers there is also opportunity for discussing your work as well as exchanging insights about the writing process itself. These and other aspects of spontaneous mentoring are important to writers, yet they are hard to come by in everyday settings. As most writers will have discovered, sociable contact among others who are similarly creatively driven is in fact a very good way of maintaining or regaining one's own creative motivation.

Depending on which retreat is chosen, you may either share with people pursuing more or less similar projects; or share with others no matter the nature of their work. Science writers may wish to select a share where mostly science writers are present, and likewise for novel, journalistic, memoir or children's writers, scriptwriters and so on.

However, a wider contact within a broader range of individuals will be rewarding in many and possibly unexpected ways. So spending a week or two among a general "population" creatively involved in all manner of writing fields may be just as valuable as spending the time with "one's own kind" so to speak.

The only proviso for participation is that all must be engaged in genuine and serious creative work. Though it is hoped you will, you are not compelled to engage in any work during the Scriblum week, and you may simply just be around soaking up the ambience and conversational tide. But all participants should at that time be undertaking writing projects, for which some indication is kindly requested when applying to Scriblum. Please consult the guidelines for more information.
